Exploring the Ethical Landscape of AI

A lot of attention has been focused on the promising innovation, efficiency, and transformative potential of artificial intelligence. In this issue’s One Thing About column, members of the American Statistical Association Committee on Professional Ethics introduce a critical conversation about the ethical considerations within the realm of AI and explore the multifaceted ethical landscape that accompanies its evolution. They want us to know that, beyond the lines of code and machine learning algorithms, lie complex issues of bias, accountability, and privacy and the need to have an ethical framework for the AI era.
