Visual Revelations

The graphic representation of scientific phenomena serves at least four purposes. One of these is standardizing phenomena in visual form; a second is communicating such phenomena more broadly, thus serving the cause of publicity to the scientific community. They preserve what is ephemeral and distribute it to all who would view or purchase the volume, not just the lucky few who were in the right place at the right time with the right equipment to see the evidence directly with their eyes.
