Advisory Committee on Climate Change Policy: A Committee of the American Statistical Association
The American Statistical Association (ASA) Advisory Committee on Climate Change Policy (ACCCP) is a relatively new committee whose establishment was sparked in 2008 when ASA member Amy Braverman urged the association to be more active in addressing society’s major challenges. Braverman agreed to lead an exploration into how the ASA could play a role in addressing climate change—her primary research focus. Subsequent conversations with other ASA members and statisticians whom Braverman recruited led to a series of actions by the ASA, overseen by this committee and its precursor.
