Salaries and Wins in Baseball
A popular point of discussion (and argument) among fans of baseball is the relationship between player salary and performance. Which players are overpaid? Which are a great deal?
I will try to explore this question by examining the relationship between salaries and wins-above-replacement (WAR). WAR is a popular aggregate measure of player performance that compares a particular player against the baseline of a replacement-level player, incorporating their hitting or pitching measures and fielding and base running.
