Une Vie Brève

Michèle Audin

Hardcover: 192 pages
Year: 2013
Publisher: Folio, Gallimard
ISBN-13: 978-2070140015

(The printed version of this review incorrectly reports that One Hundred Twenty-One Days is the translation of this book into English)

This short book is about the equally short life (which is what une vie brève means) of the young French mathematician Maurice Audin, murdered by French special forces (the infamous Massu’s paratroopers) in Algiers during the Algerian liberation war against French colonialism.

  1. Christiana Hills, Thank you for pointing this out. We have updated this text, and apologize for the error.

  2. Hello,

I am the translator of Audin’s novel Cent vingt et un jours (published 2014), which is One Hundred Twenty-One Days in English. Une vie brève is NOT One Hundred Twenty-One Days, but a different book entirely, which has not yet been translated into English (though the title could be translated as “A Brief Life”).

I would appreciate it if you would correct this information to help readers avoid confusion.

    Thank you,

    Christiana Hills
