A Conversation with Ray Waller
Introduction
Ray A. Waller received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, in 1959; his master’s degree in statistics from Kansas State University in 1963; and his doctoral degree in mathematical statistics from Johns Hopkins University in 1967. He had a distinguished career in statistical education: teaching at St. John’s Preparatory School in San Juan, Puerto Rico; statistics at Towson State College (now University), Kansas State University, and Williams College; government statistics (working for Los Alamos National Laboratory for 20 years); and statistical leadership (serving as executive director of the American Statistical Association from 1995–2001).
