The goals of this article are to introduce readers to the funding opportunities landscape for the statistical sciences, highlight the work of the American Statistical Association (ASA)Committee on Funded Research (CFR), and encourage participation in the ASA Funded Research Online Community. The article includes online resources and shares expert advice from representatives of funding agencies and research institutions.
Navigating funding agency websites and learning about their activities can be overwhelming. Two of the more well-known funding agencies—the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Science Foundation (NSF)—offer considerable online resources, including an active social media presence.
