In the previous column, I continued my series to introduce you to various word puzzle types popular in the National Puzzlers’ League, NPL, of which I am an active member. “Flats” are puzzles in verse form, where one or more words are missing and must be found from the context of the verse. The wordplay can take many forms. Here is another set of examples of types of “flats,” chosen for their loose connection to statistics.
